On January 23, Mr. Feng Wei, Vice Chairman of CIIDS, met with Mr. David Liang Qixin, Deputy Chief of Mission and Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in China and his delegation at CIIDS headquarters in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on a range of topics, including the development of China-Singapore relations, practical institutional cooperation, the China-US-Southeast Asia Trilateral Think Tank Meeting, as well as the current international landscape and hotspot issues.

Feng Wei extended a warm welcome to Counsellor David Liang Qixin and his delegation. He noted that CIIDS has a long-standing tradition of friendly exchanges and a solid foundation for cooperation with all sectors in Singapore. In recent years, the two sides have maintained close interactions in political, business and strategic academic circles. In particular, the China-US-Southeast Asia Trilateral Think Tank Meeting, co-initiated by CIIDS and Chan Heng Chee, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, has been successfully held twice since its launch in 2024, and the third session is scheduled to be convened in China this year. Feng expressed the hope to continue to receive active support from the Singapore side.
Feng emphasized that CIIDS has long been committed to serving as a bridge for mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world. The Understanding China Conference, founded by CIIDS, has become an important window for the world to understand China. He thanked the Singapore Embassy in Beijing for its long-standing support and assistance. Looking ahead, Feng expressed the expectation to further expand communication channels, enrich the substance of cooperation, and conduct more practical and efficient interactions with the Singapore Embassy in China and all sectors in Singapore. This will help foster a better “Understanding China, Understanding Singapore” narrative, enhance mutual trust and collaboration between the two countries, and inject new impetus into the sustained and sound development of China-Singapore relations.

Counsellor David Liang Qixin thanked CIIDS for the warm reception and spoke highly of the outcomes of past exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. He stated that Singapore highly values its relations with China and fully recognizes CIIDS’s important role in advancing international exchanges and promoting mutual understanding. He looked forward to continuously deepening practical cooperation with CIIDS.
