On July 1, CIIDS Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Wang Boyong met with Dr. Hassan Wirajuda, former Foreign Minister of Indonesia at CIIDS Headquarters in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on topics of shared interest including promoting think tank dialogue and economic and trade cooperation between China and Indonesia.

Wang Boyong welcomed Dr. Hassan Wirajuda's second visit to CIIDS this year since he last gave a lecture at the Institute in February and commended his contributions to advancing China-Indonesia cooperation. Wang noted that CIIDS sets great store by and stays committed to promoting think tank dialogue and economic and trade cooperation between China and Indonesia. Just in May this year, CIIDS organized a visit to Indonesia and successfully held multiple events in Jakarta. During the visit, he also led another delegation composed of enterprises from China’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on a learning tour round the Muara Gembong Special Economic Zone in Jakarta. At present, CIIDS is focusing on promoting the joint construction of a China-Indonesia cross-border and cross-sea special cooperation zone between China’s Greater Bay Area and the Jakarta Special Region, with an eye to complementing the three major industrial parks under the current “Two Countries, Two Parks” framework. CIIDS looks forward to strengthening cooperation with the Prasetiya Mulya University,   where Dr. Hassan Wirajuda serves as Rector, to jointly promote the implementation of the China-Indonesia cooperation zone model and deepen industrial cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Dr. Hassan Wirajuda stated that Indonesia attaches great importance to cooperation with China, and supports the vision of the cross-border and cross-sea special cooperation zone, and that he personally is willing to collaborate with CIIDS in promoting strategic think tank dialogue and people-to-people exchanges between China and Indonesia. He also expressed his commitment to continued and deep involvement in the undertaking of "Understanding China" to help the international community better understand China, Indonesia, and the wider world.

Ms. Shen Yinyin, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the International Department of CIIDS, and Mr. Irwansyah Mukhlis, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, attended the meeting.
