Feng Wei meets with Ollie Shiell, Chief Executive of the UK National Committee on China (UKNCC)

On the afternoon of May 16, 2025, CIIDS Vice Chairman Feng Wei met with Mr. Ollie Shiell, Chief Executive of the UK National Committee on China (UKNCC) at CIIDS office in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on issues of shared interest.

At the outset of the meeting, Vice Chairman Feng Wei introduced CIIDS and its flagship "Understanding China" initiative to Mr. Ollie Shiell, noting that CIIDS and UKNCC have enormous potential for cooperation in promoting mutual understanding between China and the UK. He went on to express his hope that the two institutions will strengthen collaboration in the future to help both sides better understand each other and advance pragmatic exchanges between China and the UK.

Mr. Ollie Shiell stated that UKNCC was established with the vision of helping all sectors in the UK better understand China. He expressed willingness to enhance cooperation with CIIDS, including through jointly organizing special events, to further deepen China-UK collaboration and contribute to addressing global challenges together.

Ms. Shen Yinyin, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the International Department of CIIDS, and Mr. Kong Yuan, Researcher at the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, attended the meeting.
