On February 20, 2025, CIIDS held the CIIDS Salon: China-ASEAN Cooperation. Former Foreign Minister of Indonesia Hassan Wirajuda delivered a presentation and had exchanges with Chinese experts attending the event. The dialogue was moderated by Vice Chairman of CIIDS Feng Wei.

In his presentation titled China-ASEAN Cooperation, Hasan Wirajuda reviewed the historical background of ASEAN, introduced its development over the past few decades, and highlighted its unique role in addressing regional issues and promoting peace and economic progress of Southeast Asia. He also discussed the increasingly close cooperation between the ASEAN and China, and responded to questions concerning China-ASEAN relations in the era of Trump 2.0, as well as issues related to China-ASEAN economic trade and technological collaboration.

In his concluding remarks, Feng Wei emphasized, he emphasized that ASEAN is a good neighbor, partner, and friend to China. With geographical proximity and cultural ties, ASEAN countries can play a unique role with China in helping the world better understand China and Asia. CIIDS looks forward to strengthening cooperation with think tanks and academic institutions in ASEAN countries including Indonesia, promoting the Global Civilization Initiative, deeply exploring and advocating Asian values, telling the Asian story well, voicing Asia’s perspectives, and striving for the peaceful development of all nations.

Chinese experts participating in the dialogue included Lv Benfu (Vice Chairman of CIIDS, Professor of School of Economics and Management, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Liu Xinghua (Director of CIIDS Center for China Economic Research, Distinguished Professor at Tongji University), Zhong Feiteng (Head of the Department of Great Power Relations Studies, Research Fellow at National Institute of International Strategy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), Gao Jianbo (Professor at Department of Geography, Beijing Normal University), Xiao Xin (Executive Director of CIIDS Center for Carbon-Neutrality and Smart Manufacturing Innovation, Professor at Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Han Hua (Secretary General of Beijing Club for International Dialogue) and Ke Guifu (Research Fellow at Eurasian System Science Research Association)
