Understanding China Books Unveiled at London Book Fair

London, April 10-The London Book Fair kicked off today at the Olympia Exhibition Centre. China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy (CIIDS) and China International Publishing Group (CIPG), with the support of the Foreign Language Press, held an unveiling ceremony of the Understanding China Books at the CIPG exhibition booth this morning. Former Executive Vice President of CPC Central Party School and CIIDS Chairman Mr. Zheng Bijian and CIPG Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Ms. Chen Shi jointly unveiled the books. Former Vice President of CPC Central Party School and CIIDS Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Li Junru, Former Vice Minister, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Film, Radio and Television, Mr. Wu Shulin, Former Vice President, CPC Central Party School and CIIDS Vice Chairman, Ms. Xu Weixin, and Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, Ms. Chen Wen, among others, attended the ceremony. 

Initiated by CIIDS and complied and translated by CIPG, the Understanding China Books are a collection of books authored by a select group of reputable Chinese and international scholars such as Mr. Zheng Bijian (leading Chinese thinker and strategist), Mr. Wang Meng (veteran Chinese writer), Mr. Bai Chunli (top Chinese scientist), Mr. Xie Zhenhua (Presidential envoy on climate change), Mr. Chen Xiwen (top Chinese expert on agriculture and rural area), Mr. Li Junru and Mr. Chen Jin (both top CPC theorist), each focusing on a specific area of China to promote a better understanding of the country in the world. 

Moreover, focusing, in general, on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the great practice of governing the country by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the books present a multi-dimensional interpretation to the international community of China’s profound historic changes, the country’s great rejuvenation process and, above all, the fundamental questions of “whither China came from” and “whither it is heading”. Altogether twenty one Understanding China Books made their debut at the London Book Fair, and seven of them are on display in English. 

During the unveiling ceremony, Chairman Zheng presented a set of Understanding China Books to Mr. Angus Phillips, Director Oxford International Centre for Publishing Students and Confucius Institute at Oxford Brookes University, and London School of Economics.
