He was a member of the Office of the Research Office of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, deputy director general of the Center for International Studies of the State Council, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and director of the Marxist-Leninist Institute, executive deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, and executive vice president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee. He is a member of the 14th and 15th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China and a member of the Standing Committee of the 10th Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is the author of "Zheng Bijian's Essays", "Zheng Bijian's Collected Works", "China's New Awakening", "The Process of Thinking", "Hitting the Water in the Middle Stream", "Chinese Civilization and the Communist Party of China", "Holding on to the Green Mountains", etc.
