To tell China's stories to better effect beyond its borders and strive for greater exchanges and mutual learning between the Chinese and foreign civilizations, CIIDS has produced a public speaking event dubbed the “Understanding China Talks”. Drawing fully on the strengths that CIIDS boasts as an influential platform, the“Understanding China Talks”is staged and recorded during the annual Understanding China Conference. Every year, the Talks invites renowned Chinese and overseas speakers from various fields to share China's stories and development experience with audiences at home China and abroad, in the hopes of helping the international community gain a deeper appreciation of, thereby eliminating bias against and promoting recognition of, China's philosophy and practice of peaceful development.

Up to the present moment, CIIDS has recorded a total of ten episodes of the Understanding China Talks from its previous three seasons respectively in 2020，2021 and 2023. The Talks, as the name suggests, talks by and large about China, with the theme running the gamut: China’s  system, civilization, development path, culture, international strategy, economic policy, digital governance, “dual-carbon” goal, innovation drive, democracy and sports among others.  Available on both home and overseas platforms, the Understanding China Talks has attracted much attention the world over.
